Classificone 2011
Seconda metà di dicembre, appuntamento irrinunciabile con la classifica dei dischi, corposa e presentata volutamente senza countdown proprio come l’anno passato. Anche il 2011, ormai come tradizione, si è rivelato tutt’altro che esaltante, con dischi sì buoni (in rari casi davvero molto buoni) ma dei quali difficilmente ci si ricorderà a lungo. Nessun capolavoro comunque, anche se alla nuova fatica di Tom Waits manca solo il fattore originalità per potersi fregiare del titolo (visto che di una summa del Waits più classico si tratta in fondo, con una raccolta di grandissime canzoni). Molto bene anche la collezione di brani che Stephin Merritt ha scritto in momenti diversi della propria carriera (non proprio materiale nuovo quindi) e pubblicato qualche mese fa con il titolo di ‘Obscurities’: assai più che nei pur validi ultimi dischi del collettivo Magnetic Fields qui le canzoni sono il frutto evidente di un genio vero, così come il regolare sabotaggio adottato a livello di arrangiamenti (dei più assurdi, nell’insieme molto stimolanti). Sul gradino più basso del podio il vero gioiello pop dell’anno, il nuovo album del cantante dei Superfurry Animals finalmente libero di dedicarsi ad un compendio melodico prossimo alla perfezione . Quindi la sorpresa del folk silvano (ed elegantemente alieno) della straordinaria finlandese Anna Jarvinen, stretto nella morsa dei due migliori album garage-revivalisti degli ultimi mesi, il convincente ritorno di Mark Sultan e l’incredibile virtuosismo canzonettaro di una promettente band di Oakland, Shannon & The Clams. Conferme molto importanti dai Low e dai Girls, lo scarno ma potentissimo intimismo di Josh T. Pearson e la migliore fotografia dell’eccellente momento dei Thee Oh Sees completano le prime dieci posizioni. A seguire un po’ di tutto – con una nutrita rappresentanza di voci e chitarre femminili – anche se i generi per il sottoscritto restano quelli (cantautorale, garage, indie-pop, folk): non aspettatevi nuove tendenze, sono allergico e lo sapete.
